Through the long winter months, the forest of Athel Loren is at its lowest ebb, made dormant and vulnerable through the cycle of the seasons. The Treemen slumber and even the normally lithe Dryads are sluggish and slow. During this time, guardianship of the most sacred of places falls to the Eternal Guard, sons and daughters of the noble houses of Athel Loren. Only skill on the field of battle can earn an honored place within the ranks of the Eternal Guard, for their duty is a difficult and dangerous one. Should the forest be assailed in the frozen months they can depend upon little or no aid from Athel Loren itself, and will be called upon to hold fast against whatever threat comes to challenge them.
